Severe Burns Following Negligent Liposuction
Our firm represented a woman in her 40s who underwent abdominal liposuction in Houston, Texas, expecting a safe cosmetic procedure and an improved quality of life. Instead, due to the negligence of her plastic surgeon, she suffered severe burns to her abdomen and surrounding areas. The injuries required extensive reconstructive treatment, multiple medical procedures, and a lengthy recovery process. Beyond the physical pain, our client endured significant emotional distress as she coped with the permanent effects of an injury that should never have occurred.
Result: Confidential settlement for the full limits of the surgeon's medical malpractice insurance policy.
Third-Degree Burns and Disfigurement Caused by Improper Cryotherapy
Our firm represented a man in his 20s who sought treatment at an urgent care facility for a routine wart removal procedure. Rather than receiving safe and appropriate care, he became the victim of a serious medical error. A nurse practitioner improperly administered cryotherapy using liquid nitrogen and had not been adequately trained by the facility in the safe performance of the procedure. During treatment, the liquid nitrogen spilled onto approximately 67% of our client's left thigh, causing severe freezer burns, permanent disfigurement, and substantial pain and suffering. He ultimately required extensive corrective treatment, including microneedling and scar revision procedures.
Result: Confidential settlement for the full limits of the urgent care facility's insurance policy.
Negligent Workplace Safety Resulting in the Wrongful Death of a Father of Five
Our firm represented the family of a hardworking father of five who was employed at a gas station in Houston, Texas. He was instructed to clean underground fuel tanks without being provided the necessary safety equipment, training, or protections for this dangerous task. While performing his duties, he suffered catastrophic injuries when he was struck by a large truck, resulting in traumatic brain injuries and the onset of epilepsy. Despite extensive medical treatment, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a grieving wife and five children. Our firm fought to hold those responsible accountable and to secure financial security for the family he left behind.
Result: Confidential multi-million-dollar settlement on behalf of the family.
Negligent Neck Surgery Causing Permanent Nerve Injury
Our firm represented a man in his late 30s who underwent surgery in New Mexico for the removal of a cyst in his neck. During the procedure, the surgeon failed to properly identify and protect a critical nerve structure. As a result, our client suffered permanent nerve damage that caused paralysis and significant weakness in his shoulder and upper extremity. What should have been a routine procedure instead resulted in lifelong physical limitations that affected both his career and daily life. Our firm pursued the matter aggressively and secured compensation for the devastating injuries caused by the surgeon's negligence.
Result: Confidential six-figure settlement.
Failure to Diagnose Aortic Aneurysm Resulting in a Young Husband's Death
Our firm represented a widow whose husband died only months after the couple had been married. The husband, a very tall and otherwise healthy man, presented to an urgent care facility in Houston complaining of chest pain. Despite the seriousness of his symptoms and the numerous potentially life-threatening causes of chest pain that should have been considered, the providers dismissed his condition as anxiety and instructed him to return home and relax.
The urgent care failed to evaluate him for an aortic aneurysm, a dangerous enlargement of the body's main artery that can become fatal if left untreated. Two days later, the aneurysm catastrophically tore, causing an acute aortic dissection and massive internal bleeding. He died before life-saving treatment could be provided. Our firm sought accountability for this tragic failure to recognize a deadly but diagnosable condition.
Result: Confidential six-figure settlement for the widow.
Negligent Hiring of Pediatric Physician Later Arrested for Child Pornography
Our firm represented 21 families in a case against a major hospital system in New Mexico involving a pediatric physician who was later arrested on child pornography charges. The lawsuit alleged that the hospital failed to exercise reasonable care in its hiring practices and in its ongoing monitoring of the physician after he was brought onto staff. Parents place immense trust in hospitals and pediatricians to care for their children, and our clients alleged that this trust was broken when children were treated by a physician who should never have been placed in a position of authority over vulnerable patients. This case involved difficult and deeply emotional issues for the affected families, and our firm was proud to advocate for them and pursue accountability.
Result: Confidential six-figure settlement.
Negligent Cesarean Section Causing Eyelid Laceration of Newborn
Our firm represented a newborn born by cesarean section. During the procedure, the surgeon negligently lacerated the upper eyelid of the newborn. Due to the laceration, plastic surgery was required to repair the eyelid.
Result: Confidential six-figure settlement.
Incorrect Placement of Artificial Knee Resulted in Second Knee Replacement Surgery
Our firm represented a 40-year-old woman who underwent surgery to replace her right knee. A knee surgery requires meticulous measuring so that the component parts align perfectly for steady gait. The surgeon, a young sports medicine physician who was unfamiliar with these surgeries, did not measure exactly. The lack of care caused the knee to be misaligned. The offset caused our client to be in severe pain when she could start walking again. A quick radiology image showed that the knee replacement was done incorrectly and needed to be redone. After a second reconstructive surgery, our client was able to walk correctly again and without pain.
Result: Confidential six-figure settlement before trial.
Incorrect Placement of Artificial Hip Resulted in Three Hip Surgeries
Our firm represented a 40-year-old woman who underwent surgery to replace her right hip. A hip surgery requires meticulous measuring so that the component parts align perfectly for steady gait. The surgeon did not measure exactly. The lack of care caused the hip to be misaligned. The offset caused our client to be in severe pain when she could start walking again. A quick radiology image showed that the hip replacement was done incorrectly and needed to be redone. The negligent cuts from the first hip surgery caused our client to undergo three additional hip surgeries to get the placement correct.

Unauthorized Practice of Medicine Results in Botched Plastic Surgery
Our firm represented a 33 year old woman who underwent plastic surgery in Houston, Texas. The woman was assured by the “doctor” that he had completed many of these procedures before her. After the surgery, our client’s results were horrific. She later found out that her “doctor” was actually a surgical assistant holding himself out as a surgeon. The individual was arrested is still fighting his criminal conviction. Our firm sued the individual and the clinic that employed him for the costs of a reconstructive surgery and for hedonic damages.
Result: Confidential six-figure settlement without litigation.
Incorrect Extraction of Third Molar Caused Injury to Lingual Nerve Resulting in Pain and Numbness in Mouth
Our firm represented a 25-year-old woman who underwent wisdom tooth extraction. Her third molar was impacted (under the gum) so the periodontist needed to cut open the gum. Instead of breaking the tooth and extracting the fragments, piece by piece, the periodontist attempted to pull the tooth as a whole. This pressure caused severe damage to the lingual nerve - the nerve that runs along the bottom jaw bone. The lingual nerve supplies sensation to the tongue and lower lip. Due to the damage, our client suffered permanent pain and numbness on her tongue and lip.
Result: Confidential six-figure settlement before trial.
Negligent Monitoring of Hyperbaric Chamber Results in Vertebral Fractures Due to Emergent Decompression
Our firm represented a 28 year old man who had a small wound on his heel. He was treating the wound with hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatment. When a patient enters the chamber, he/she is prohibited from bringing electronics inside. As such, our client’s glucose monitor had to stay outside of the chamber and was monitored by the technician. The technician failed to see the massive drop in glucose while our client was in the chamber. Due to the drop, our client began to seize inside the chamber. The emergency decompression button was hit by the technician which brought the pressure in the chamber back up rapidly. Due to the rapid increase in pressure, our client’s spine suffered immense tension and he fractured several vertebras.
